Best Practices for Images and Videos

  • Save the image as a jpeg with 90% compression
  • Put any text in the image into the caption for accessibility (i.e. a logo or signage)
  • If an image has a large amount of meaningful text, remove the image and replicate with text.
  • If a custom graphic is made for a poster or event, make sure you have a version without text on it for use on the website

  • Use a thumbnail image that makes it clear it’s a video
  • Add context in the image caption regarding the video subject-matter and length

Image and Video Content Rows

  • Don’t use the row if you don’t have good images, or it doesn’t enhance the content
  • Don’t use a row on pages that have critical content high up on the page, it will push that content down
